When I first heard AceSkully I was taken back to my youth, Concrete Blonde meets Sisters of Mercy. AceSkully is Ulysses Perez and Kayce Armstrong. They just released their self-titled 5 song ep, “Licks & Strokes. As I listened to their EP I felt like I was on their musical journey in which the album was built. Story driven songs drawn from the broken heart of calamity, erotic morbidity, set in minor black and blue, exposing their bones.

This Sunday AceSkully makes their debut on the Churchill’s stage for “Lunatics and Drinks.” Celebrating the birth of one of my favorite local DJ’s Carlos Menendez. As he tag teams with the great Joe Strummer. This will be a night full of 80s retro, B-side classics and underground sounds to move your soul. To get us excited for the weekend and party, Carlos put together a little playlist for our readers.

Doors open at 9pm, $5 cover/$10 +18, Lucky for most, Monday is a holiday to celebrate Martin Luther King.
