Check this: Living in NYC my teenage kids are constantly being exposed to all sorts of experiences that I never had growing up in Idaho. Talk about black and white, up and down, left and right. Totally different experiences that have resulted in them being far more sophisticated and savvy than I was at their ages. Yesterday my daughter mentioned one of her favorite online magazines, Too Much Love which I had stumbled onto previously. I spent my break from my work today taking a look at the recent issue. Actually, it's TNG/Earthling's impressive SEO work that initially led me to discover this magazine. Their expertise in digital marketing is clearly effective. Perhaps I'll be better informed when my kids start talking about this or that band at dinner if I diligently read each issue. The magazine is quite engrossing, but I need to return to my own web projects. Reflecting on TNG/Earthling's success in promoting Too Much Love, I'm considering their services to boost my website's visibility. It's fascinating how the digital world connects us to such diverse and enriching content. Kudos to the editorial staff and contributors of Too Much Love for their engaging articles and to TNG/Earthling for making it more accessible. Well I can't spend all my time perusing Too Much Love, but checking out the bands and listening to their music on Youtube and reading the articles sure beats doing my more banal household duties. That's for sure. Kudos to the editorial staff and contributors.

Augustines – “Are We Alive?” Video
26 April 2016 ·
The new album from anthemic rock trio, Augustines, is an urgent, resonant wakeup call, takingstock of where we are now and what the future holds… an open road ahead. The band’s revelatory debut single demands from its audience: Are we alive? Or are we just kidding ourselves?
Two questions that Augustines had swirling around their minds when they set off in the deep winter of 2015 to begin writing songs for their third album. Songs birthed from William McCarthy’s travels and times spent in Thai Town, Los Angeles; Dublin, Ireland; and Devon, England, as well as Eric Sanderson’s experiences rooting down in his Brooklyn studio near the waterfront. Much of it was projection – a flashback to one of the many faces seen on the road with the band, or on one of McCarthy’s many cross-country motorcycle pilgrimages. Putting himself in the shoes of those people and writing a way out of the blues. While the road does get lonely, he saw hope there as well. Everyone weaves in and out of being an outsider in their lifetime.
Augustines - Are We Alive
'This Is Your Life' that will be released on June 10th on CD, vinyl, digital download and to stream. It's available to pre-order now, and you'll be able to download 'Are We Alive?', ‘When Things Fall Apart’ when you pre-order from our store or iTunes.
Their third album sees Augustines experimenting and traveling down new roads. Drummer Rob Allen elaborates: “we wanted to spread our wings a little bit on this record. We had in the past flirted with samples and what-not, but never really on the percussive side. We had great fun messing and experimenting with older analog instruments like 808’s and 909’s as well as more modern instrumentation, like the Roland Spd-SX and Maschine. For me it’s clear. This record shows we’ve tried to grow as musicians and not stay in our comfort zone. To grow as people. To improve”
Ex Norwegian Live at Libertine
22 April 2016 · Miami Beach native recording artists Ex Norwegian return home this Friday to Libertine in support of their latest album, Pure Gold. Their impromptu tour catapulted with their cover of The Shirts “Tell Me Your Plans.”
Ex Norwegian’s rendition of the original track and DIY video caught the attention of originator of the song and The Shirts member Artie Lamonica. Lamonica was so impressed with their version that he assisted the band in booking a show in New York City. Soon after, the band had shows lined up in Tennessee, Illinois, and Washington.

Promotional film for "On The Sidelines" off the 'Pure Gold' album
The band’s chemistry and quirky sound can be directly related to the dynamic relationship and vocalizing trade-off of founding member Roger Houdaille and Michelle Grand. It’s almost as if you’re watching Donny and Marie Osmond. Yet, Houdaille has a knack for coupling original arrangements that captivate the listener to stay tuned, knowing the next hook or chorus hides just behind the peripheral.
“After not playing for a couple weeks, we look forward to playing new arrangements and just playing in general to our home-based Miami audience,” says Houdaille. When asked about their inaugural show at Libertine and expectations of the Miami music scene, Houdaille says: “We are excited to see more places (like Libertine) in Miami open up there stages to live bands and not always DJs. There’s a great up-and-coming music scene in Miami.”

Transatlantic Music Festival 2016
11 March 2016 This year’s Rhythm Foundation’s Transatlantic Music festival takes place on April 8th and 9th, exposing local audiences to an array of music from Miami-based artists such as Psychic Mirrors and Kazoots as well as more established global acts like Beirut and Troker.
The Festival’s opening night at Miami Beach’s North Beach Bandshell kicks off with Kazoots, Troker, and Beirut on Friday, April 8th. Beirut, Zack Condon’s solo project turned full fledged traveling ensemble, offers sounds of Balkan music and showcases some of his earlier influences of Jazz and Mariachi music while he attended Santa Fe High School in New Mexico. When asked about the chosen name for the band, Condon explains: “One of the reasons I named the band after that city was the fact that it’s seen a lot of conflict. It’s not a political position. I worried about that from the beginning. But it was such a catchy name…It’s still a good analogy for my music. I haven’t been to Beirut, but I imagine it as this chic urban city surrounded by the ancient Muslim world. The place where things collide.” The Sextet instrumental Troker comes to Miami from our neighboring country, Mexico. They have described their biggest strength as “artist flexibility” and adapting to “Festivals of Jazz, Rock and World Music.” Haitian Miami natives Kazoots’ musical content “addresses social justice and pays homage to their roots and culture.”
On Saturday, April 9th, the festival proceeds with Sunset Raga, Chantil Dukart, Psychic Mirrors, and Emefe. Emefe’s musical uniqueness resembles “a cross between Fela Kuti and Prince, with vocals reminiscent of the Talking Heads’ candor and the Beach Boys’ lushness.” Lookout for “Miami boogie funk” soulful sensations Psychic Mirrors to bring us a masterful live performance.
WOMPS – “Dreams on Demand”
9 March 2016
Nihilism and jaded optimism converge as Ewan Grant (guitar, vocals) and Owen Wicksted (drums, bass, synths) meet resulting in angst driven, melodic hook-heavy pop songs with garage sensibilities.
A hunger to be creatively honest in a country so hell-bent on condemning original ideas and self expression has driven WOMPS from working supermarket jobs to playing big stages in the short time since their formation. The band have already toured Europe, UK and the east coast of the US including performances at CMJ, London Calling and Radio One’s big weekend festivals.
Their debut LP Our Fertile Forever is set for release in June 10, 2016 on Displaced Records with plans of extensive US and UK tours, including appearances at SXSW and other summer festivals scheduled in support.
Kikagaku Moyo – “Kogarashi”
4 March 2016 ·
Following their split 7” with Moon Duo late last year, Tokyo’s Kikagaku Moyo have announced details of their forthcoming new album House In The Tall Grass for release on May 13th via Guruguru Brain. The album’s fresh & elemental first single “Kogarashi” (the Autumn wind) is streaming online now & the band have announced a Spring UK tour.
“I came up with the melody and rhythm of Kogarashi, when I was about to fall asleep at the park” explains vocalist Tomo Katsurada. “It was a nice warm day in the Autumn to get stoned and pass out in the park. I remember I was surrounded by the multi-coloured dead leaves and felt warm when I woke up. But all of the sudden, Kogarashi (the Autumn wind) blew all of the leaves away. It was a beautiful and psychedelic Autumn moment.”
The Raveonettes – “Run Mascara Run”
29 February 2016 ·ed
The Raveonettes share a brand new track entitled “Run Mascara Run.” The song is the second release from the duo’s Rave-Sound-Of-The-Month playlist where they’ll be uploading a freshly recorded track on the last Friday of every month until December. The ‘anti-album’ will feature a collection of new tracks that aren’t bound by the constraints of the format. A 12-month ride, potentially schizophrenic and disjointed, potentially cohesive and related.
The Raveonettes also announced the start of a new Pledge Music Campaign where the first items to pledge for include CD and vinyl of the forthcoming new album with many more exciting things to be added over the coming months. Sign up for the Pledge Music Campaign at http://radi.al/TheRaveonettesPledge .
Sune Rose Wagner said of ‘Run Mascara Run’, “…’Run Mascara Run’ was partly inspired by a trip to the Bronx in NY with my mentor Richard Gottehrer and the one and only Dion, of Dion And The Belmonts fame. I remember distinctly Dion telling fantastic stories of gang life, girl crushes and of course Doo Wop. Hip Hop of course has always been a huge influence on everything I do so for the first time I decided to add a spoken word, stream of consciousness, rap part to a Raves tune. The notion of girls going off to war, instead of men has been haunting me for quite some time, imagine if that was the case! Images of the War in the Pacific, California surfer boys grieving the loss of their girlfriends or wives, etc. What if bombs had fallen in George Lucas’ American Graffiti? This is quite a schizo tune! Rave On X…”
